Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Your Ugandan Welcome

You’ll be met at Entebbe International Airport by a friendly member of the Amatsiko team, who will escort you to your overnight accommodation. As you settle in, the excitement builds. This is more than a safari, it’s the beginning of a journey through Uganda’s heart.

Day 2: Entebbe to Bwindi – Into the Misty Hills

A scenic domestic flight takes you from Entebbe to Kihihi airstrip. From there, you’ll travel to your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to more than half the world’s mountain gorillas. The journey winds through green hills and vibrant local villages offering your first taste of Uganda’s incredible landscapes.

Spend your afternoon relaxing or exploring nearby trails. As night falls, enjoy a hearty meal and the sounds of the forest as you prepare for tomorrow’s adventure.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking – A Moment You’ll Never Forget

This is the highlight of your Uganda safari experience. After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing with UWA rangers. Then, in small guided groups, you’ll venture deep into the forest in search of a habituated gorilla family.

The trek can last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorillas are, but every step brings you closer to a life-changing moment. Once you find them, you’ll spend one magical hour watching them eat, rest, and interact. It’s a quiet, humbling experience you’ll carry with you forever.

Amatsiko Tours handles all permit arrangements, and your guides ensure your safety and comfort throughout.

Day 4: Explore, Rest or Trek Again

Day four is flexible. You might choose to relax at your lodge or take a guided walk through local villages. For those wanting more adventure, a second gorilla trek or guided forest walk is available.

You can also visit a local Batwa community to learn about Uganda’s indigenous forest peoples and their traditions—another powerful way to connect with the land and its heritage.

Day 5: To Lake Bunyonyi – Uganda’s Most Beautiful Lake

After breakfast, you’ll travel to Lake Bunyonyi—Uganda’s “lake of little birds.” With over 20 islands surrounded by terraced hills, it’s one of the most picturesque places in East Africa.

Check into your lodge along the lakeshore and take the afternoon to unwind. Go for a swim, enjoy a peaceful canoe ride, or simply relax with a book and a view.

Day 6: Cultural Experiences and a Visit to Amatsiko School

This day invites you into the heart of what makes Amatsiko Tours so special—community connection. You’ll visit Amatsiko Preparatory School, a growing educational hub supported directly by your travel.

Meet the students and teachers, join a dance or singing session, and see firsthand how tourism is bringing hope—amatsiko—to this rural village. You can also explore nearby farms, participate in basket weaving, or help prepare a traditional meal with local women.

It’s a chance not just to observe but to participate—to learn, to share, and to support.

Day 7: Return to Entebbe and Farewell

After breakfast, you’ll journey back to Entebbe by road, with stops along the way for craft shopping and scenic photos. Depending on your flight time, you may have a chance to enjoy a farewell meal or simply rest before heading to the airport.

As your Uganda safari experience comes to a close, you’ll leave with more than memories. You’ll leave knowing your visit made a difference.
