11 Day Tour in Uganda: My Journey with Amatsiko Tours
From mountain gorillas to rural schools, this was more than an incredible trip—it was totally inspiring.

At the beginning of July 2025, I travelled to Uganda with Amatsiko Tours—an unforgettable 11-day journey that took me from misty rainforests and wildlife encounters to remote villages, sustainable farming projects, and the heart of a school changing lives.
Every single day held something extraordinary. There were so many pinch-me moments.
And what stood out most wasn’t the scenery (though it was breathtaking) or the wildlife (though I saw gorillas, chimps, elephants, and more up close)—it was the people. The children at Amatsiko Preparatory School. The women weaving baskets. The families planting fruit trees and installing water tanks to change their futures and most of all Alex & Alphonse my guides, founders of the school and Go Organic Africa.
This wasn’t just a trip. It was a window into what hope looks like in action and how we can all have a small part to play in helping others.
Here’s a day-by-day look into the stories, sights, and moments that moved me:
Day 1 – Arrival at the Pearl of Africa Uganda
My first day in Uganda—misty hills, a boat ride across Lake Bunyonyi, and that feeling of finally arriving.
Day 2 – Discovering Matoke & Punishment Island
A boat ride, culture, sacred traditions and a taste of Uganda’s most famous dish.
Day 3 – A School Built on Hope
Meeting the children of Amatsiko School and feeling the heart of this trip come to life.
Day 4 – Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
A once-in-a-lifetime trek through the forest—and the moment our eyes met.
Day 5 – Kitagata Hot Springs & Savannah Drive in Uganda
From bubbling hot springs to elephants on the road – Uganda never stops surprising me.
Day 6 – Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari at Sunrise
Warthogs, buffalo and birds at dawn—watching the sun rise on the savannah was pure magic.
Day 7 – Exploring Fort Portal’s Toro Kingdom and Amabeere Caves
Ancient caves, royal stories, and the quiet power of standing where legends were born.
Day 8 – Chimp Trek and Community in Kibale
A wild walk with chimps, banana gin, coffee roasting—and real connection.
Day 9 – Safari Sunset in Lake Mburo
Golden plains, grazing zebras, and giraffes walking through the sunset light.
Day 10 – Walking with Giraffes & Rural Community Impact
Walking among giants in Lake Mburo National Park.
Day 11 – Reflections, Farewells & Kigali Memorial
Saying goodbye to Uganda, carrying stories, and a visit I’ll never forget.
