9-Days: Travel with Purpose – Community, Wellbeing & Wildlife
8–16 November 2026 | With Clinical Psychologist Dr Vikki Barnes
Travel to Uganda and be part of real community projects, not just a tour.
This 9-day Travel with Purpose journey is designed for people who want to experience Uganda in a more meaningful way, combining community connection, cultural immersion, wildlife and personal wellbeing.
You’ll spend time at Amatsiko Preparatory School, contribute to practical community-led projects in Buzaniro village, learn about nutrition, farming and sustainable living, and connect with local families, artisans and community leaders.
Alongside these experiences, clinical psychologist Dr Vikki Barnes will lead two guided mental wellbeing sessions, creating space throughout the journey to reflect, reset and reconnect. These sessions are designed to support reflection, connection and personal growth as you experience Uganda and the communities you meet.
There’s also plenty of opportunity to discover the extraordinary landscapes and wildlife of Uganda, from Lake Bunyonyi and the forests of Bwindi to a walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park, with optional gorilla trekking for those who want to add one of Uganda’s most iconic wildlife experiences.
This isn’t a typical volunteering trip. It’s an opportunity to contribute in a practical, respectful way, learn from local people and experience Uganda beyond the usual tourist trail.
You’ll come away with incredible memories, meaningful connections and perhaps a different perspective on the world and your place in it.

Packing Tips
There’s no need to dress up for evenings. Uganda is generally relaxed, so comfortable, modest clothing works well throughout the trip. For visits to Amatsiko Preparatory School and local communities, we’d recommend clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Most importantly, pack light and leave a little room in your bag. You may want to bring home locally made crafts and gifts from the communities you visit. If you’re gorilla trekking: Pack sturdy waterproof boots, long trousers, long socks, gardening gloves, a waterproof jacket and a small backpack. The forest can be wet, muddy and steep, and vegetation can be dense. Gaiters can also be useful.
