Packing tips

Pack light and ready for the forest

Bring light, comfortable layers, a waterproof jacket and sturdy walking boots with good grip, especially for gorilla and chimpanzee trekking. Long trousers, long socks and gardening gloves help on forest treks, while neutral, breathable clothing works well on safari days. Don’t forget insect repellent, sun protection, a small daypack, binoculars and a power bank.

Dress respectfully. Uganda is a modest country, so please pack lightweight clothing that covers your shoulders and knees for village, school and community visits, and for places of worship. It’s a simple way to show respect for the people welcoming you.

Traveller experiences

An absolutely unforgettable experience. Seeing chimpanzees in Kibale and coming face-to-face with mountain gorillas in Bwindi were moments I’ll never forget, but what made the trip truly special was experiencing Uganda beyond the wildlife. We felt incredibly well looked after throughout and came home with wonderful memories and a real connection to Uganda.

FAQs

Your questions answered

Can I join this journey if I’m travelling alone?

Yes. Many of our guests travel solo, and a small group of 6 to 12 makes it easy to meet like-minded people. You’ll have your own private room with no single supplement, so the price per person is the same for everyone.

How fit do I need to be for gorilla trekking?

You need a reasonable level of fitness. Treks can last from one to several hours over uneven, steep or muddy forest terrain at altitude, and your guides set a pace that suits the group. Porters can be hired locally to help carry your bag and give a steadying hand. If you have any health or mobility concerns, tell us before you book and we’ll talk it through.

Will I have to share a room?

No. All accommodation on this journey is in private rooms. Couples and friends travelling together can share a room if they prefer.

Are airport transfers included?

Yes. Your guide will meet you at Entebbe International Airport and take you to your hotel, and your return transfer is included at the end of the journey. International flights are not included.

How do the deposit and payments work?

A deposit of $500 per person secures your place, and the balance is due 60 days before departure, on 31 January 2027. Book by 14 December 2026 to benefit from our early-bird offer. You can find all the ways to pay on our payment options page.

Do I need a visa for Uganda?

Most visitors do. The Uganda tourist visa is not included in the journey price, and you’ll need to apply before you travel. Our guide explains how to apply for a Uganda visa.

What happens after I enquire?

Enquiring doesn’t commit you to anything. A member of our team will reply personally, explain availability, payment and the next steps, and answer any questions before you decide whether to go ahead.
