Meet the Amatsiko Tours Team

At Amatsiko Tours, we believe the best journeys are led by people who know the land, love the culture, and live the story.

Our team isn’t just made up of guides and planners—we’re family, friends, and community builders, united by a shared dream: to show you the real Uganda, while helping our home thrive.

“We want to show you the beauty of our people and places—not just as tourists, but as friends.

Our Guides – Your Local Experts

Our guiding team is made up of skilled, licensed professionals from across Uganda, each with their own area of expertise. Whether you want to wander through local communities, spot rare birds in the wetlands, hike hidden forest trails, or explore Uganda’s bustling markets, there’s an Amatsiko guide who knows exactly where to take you.

From the misty forests of Bwindi to the savannahs of Queen Elizabeth National Park, their knowledge runs deep. While trained park rangers lead gorilla and chimpanzee trekking inside Uganda’s national parks, our Amatsiko guides handle everything else—arranging permits, planning your route, and ensuring you’re matched with the right trekking group.

They’re storytellers, nature lovers, and cultural ambassadors whose warmth, humor, and insider tips turn every day into an unforgettable experience.

Why We Do What We Do

The name Amatsiko means hope—and hope is at the center of everything we do.

A portion of every tour supports Amatsiko Preparatory School and community initiatives like clean water projects, nutritional gardens, and the Dream Village Project in Buzaniro.

When you travel with us, you’re not just taking a journey—you’re helping to write a brighter future for our children.

Our Community Partners

We work hand-in-hand with teachers, farmers, artisans, and conservationists who open their doors to our guests. Every basket you see woven, every song you hear under the stars, and every meal you share with a family is the result of a partnership built on trust and mutual respect.

Meet the founders

Alex Atuheire

Executive Director & Co-founder

“My journey has taught me that with hope, support, and determination, we can transform even the most challenging circumstances into opportunities for growth and impact.”

Growing up in poverty, Alex faced many challenges, including losing his father and struggling to fund his education. His perseverance and desire to uplift his community led him to co-found Amatsiko School in 2014. Today, Alex is not only a proud father but also a dedicated advocate for his community, providing hope and education to hundreds of children.

Alphonse Twinamatsiko

Co-founder & Project Coordinator

“My passion is to help others who grew up like me while protecting our environment and preserving the knowledge of our elders.”

Like Alex, Alphonse overcame incredible odds, working as a child to pay for his education. He has since earned several certifications in sustainable agriculture and has co-founded both Amatsiko School and Go Organic Africa. Alphonse’s passion for helping others has impacted the lives of countless children and families, empowering them through education and sustainability.
